VENUE SPOTLIGHT

BASSMEAD MANOR BARNS

What can I say? Bassmead Manor Barns is absolutely at the top of its game.

I have worked over 25 times at this venue, and every time, I have been blown away by its perfection!

From the fabulous staff, stunning surroundings and incredible food, this venue has everything.

From the moment you arrive at Bassmead, you are welcomed by wonderful staff, who have always gone above and beyond, not only for the bride and groom on the day, but also the suppliers. I think I know them all by name, and I am always greeted back with open arms (and sometimes hugs). There is a real team spirit at Bassmead.

The coordinator on the day, whether it’s Julie, Amanda, Leah or any of the other of the wonderful people that work at the venue, are 100% on form and will bend over backwards to make any wedding day perfect for their couple. Their enthusiasm for weddings is infectious, and I cannot praise them all highly enough.

The Venue

Bassmead Manor Barns are based in the beautiful countryside outside of St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. The barns are surrounded by luscious fields, and at all times of the year, it is stunning.

The venue has a strong family history and the owners still live in the farmhouse on the grounds.

The Boudoir

This area at Bassmead is fully contained and has everything you need for you and your girls to get ready. Split across two levels, and completely open plan, there is plenty of space for the entire bridal party, and dedicated, well lit areas for each stage of getting ready.

It’s ideal because hair and make up can be done in one part of the downstairs and it’s still fully visible from where the comfy seating area is. This means the whole of downstairs is fully inclusive to all of your bridesmaids, so that no one misses a moment!

The perfect place to get ready for your big day.
One of the highlights of The Boudoir is the huge window and its curtains. Why? Because when all of the guests walk from the Moat Barn to the Rickety Barn before the ceremony, you can watch them all! This is such an exciting time in the room. It’s great that you can see out, but they can’t see in!

Downstairs in the Boudoir

  • Hair and Make up space with mirrors, chairs and hair washing facilities

  • Cosy seating area

  • Private Bathroom

  • Drinks facilities

  • View of the courtyard

Upstairs in The Boudoir is where you get into your beautiful gown. There is a real sense of calm in this space, and it is a lovely place to get dressed. With huge cream curtains to get dressed behind, you can be as private as you like.

This is also a great spot to do a dress reveal to your bridesmaids/dad/or anyone else you want to.

The Rickety Barn

  • 18th century barn
  • Seating for up to 150 guests
  • Vibe - rustic and romantic
  • Perfect for intimate weddings and also larger groups

This barn is truly such a romantic space. Its rustic beams, wooden floor and fairy lights, create the perfect ambience for any wedding day.

One of my favourite places to take photos at Bassmead, is of course the beautiful blue barn door at the entrance to the barn. It is some what iconic with this venue.

Worried about rain on your wedding day? Don’t be! The Rickety Barn is ideal for indoor photos.

Outdoor Ceremonies

Brand new for 2022/2023 is the beautiful outdoor space that is perfect for those warmer days. If you want an outdoor ceremony, then this is the place. Over looking the fields of Cambridgeshire, and seating up to 150 guests, it’s a great new addition to this top venue.

The Moat Barn - Drinks Reception

A drinks reception at Bassmead Manor is always created with the upmost detail. I always love photographing it. Drinks and canapés can be served outside in the courtyard, or on a chiller day, just inside the Moat Barn.

This area is where the bar is situated. There is a lovely seating area and it also leads to the wash rooms.

The Moat Barn is where your guests first arrive, so it usually hosts your welcome sign, guest book, post box and your table plan.

All of the areas at Bassmead are really closely situated to each other, which is ideal on any wedding day.

Ideal for sweet carts, table plans and all of the little details for your guests to see.

The Bridge Barn - Reception

The Bridge Barn is the perfect space to hold your wedding breakfast. There are so many options of how to make this space your own. Some couples leave it as it is, as it is stunning in its own right and other couples add more lights, flowers and really showcase their creative ideas. Either way, I think you will fall in love with its effortless charm.

  • Contemporary Barn

  • Seating for up to 150 guests

  • Lots of natural light

  • Timber beams and wooden floor

  • Fresh and elegant space

The two courtyards are visible from both sides of this barn, and it’s a lovely space to admire the overall outside space.

The Bridge Barn is also where your evening reception takes place - get those dancing shoes ready. It’s a great area for dancing, and having fun with your guests.

Must Have Photo Opportunites

Bassmead Manor Barns has so many spots for photos, it’s hard to know where to start!

Group Shots

The large group photo of all of your guests is ideally taken from The Boudoir’s upstairs window, facing down into the courtyard. Its a great open space, which will fit in all of your guests.

Family group shots can be taken in the courtyard near The Rickerty Barn or over in the Moat Courtyard. I normally judge this on the day, depending on where the sun is! Nobody wants to be looking into the sun for photographs.

Bridal Party

I love to take bridal party photos between the brickwork of The Rickety Barn and The Boudoir. The brickwork works beautifully in images. I also use the tree lined driveway quite a lot for these group shots too.

I can’t visit Bassmead without popping over to the huge tree trunk that is set in one of the fields. It’s so much fun for group photos!

Bride & Groom Photos

  • The bridge over the moat is a must - whether it’s during the day or in the evening when the fairy lights come on, it creates a great image to add to your photo gallery.

  • The Rickety Barn Door - as I mentioned before, it is iconic with this venue.

  • The dark blue farmhouse doors behind the venue - depending on the time of year, there are often roses around the door too.

  • In the summer the corn fields make the perfect shot (if we get a golden hour, it’s even better!)

  • The tree-lined driveway is fab for walking shots to create some dramatic photos.

  • The brickwork outside the barns is lovely as a backdrop for images.
